At your arrival

Boat transport and transport times

The boat ride takes approximately 20 – 30 minutes with the larger boats (Grisslan and Måsen), depending on the weather. You might want to have your waterproof clothes readily available, as the crossing may be windy and a sometimes ”splashy” event.

If you have much camp material this can be sent on a separate boat departure, apart from the scouts. However, our international guests normally arrive with everything on the same departure.

All of the group’s transportation times is to be reported in the form ”Travel Plan”. You will get a confirmation from us.

Welcome greeting from Vässarö

Once your group arrive at Vässarö you will be welcomed at the harbour by someone from the camp office. At some points we can’t come ourself – then we ask the captain or the tractor driver to take well care of you. If that is the case it is very important that someone from your group visits the camp office to check in. When we meet you, you get a folder with maps and all information you might need.

Tractor transport at arrival to the island

When you have arrived to Djuphamn – the harbour of Vässarö, a tractor will wait for you to transport your heavy gear. You might have to carry your personal lugage yourself. It is you who load and unload the tractor and once it is loaded it will drive to your campsite, and you follow by foot.

Check list for arrival and departure

It’s a good thing to gather the group and go through the check list once you are on the campsite – it contains things everyone should know. You can find them here if you want to have a look before you arrive ⇒ Check list for arrival and departure.

Arrival food

All groups arriving to Vässarö get blueberry soup (cold, sweet drink) and sandwiches with cheese or ham from us. If your group arrives at differet times, this only regard the part of your group arriving first. Tip! If you have booked a transport cart it’s a good idea to pick it up at Storgårn, the camp office, first.

Visit the Food Supply

At the very start of your stay you have to visit the Food Supply to plan your stay regarding the food. This can be done when you pick up the arrival food but you can also come back later if you want to fill up your energy levels first. When we meet we talk about your exact numbers, special food, and if you have some special wishes. You also pick up basic products for your whole stay and ingredients for the next 24 hours. You can read more about how the Food supply works here ⇒ Food information

Visit the Camp office

At the camp office you check in and if you have booked it you pick up the transport cart and liquefied petroleum gas for cooking. We prepare everything so it’s ready when you come.

Visit the Program office

Once you have settled in on your campsite it’s time to visit the Program office. Together with our staff you will go through the program during your stay. Here you get the oppertunity to book campfire sites, the sauna and other activities that you can’t book before you arrive to the island. You also get starting times for the Trapper trail.
